Rubie Simonsen (she/they) is a small-scale Native herb farmer, educator, and community organizer dedicated to food sovereignty and ecological resilience. Rubie serves on the Policy Committee for the Community Alliance with Family Farmers and has a background in sociology and training in sustainable agriculture from UC Davis and the Center for Land-Based Learning. As an instructor for UC Davis’s TANF Institute, they design culturally relevant programs that emphasize youth leadership, food sovereignty, and liberatory practice. They are currently exploring the intersections of birth work and Indigenous cosmologies, and believe deeply in the power of reclaiming ancestral knowledge as a pathway for future building.
